Sarah Winnemucca Day
Thursday, October 16th is Sarah Winnemucca Day! Join us at the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records as we celebrate Sarah Winnemucca's birthday, honoring the enduring legacy of one of Nevada's most influential Native American writers, educators, and activists.
This special day coincides with the opening of the new Mark Twain Reading Room, where we've dedicated space to Sarah Winnemucca and fellow Sagebrush School writers who shaped both Nevada's cultural identity and the broader canon of Western American literature.
Explore her life, her work, and her lasting impact—alongside other voices who helped define the literary spirit of the American West.
